- This topic relates to visual culture because as social media becomes more widely used and relied on in the 21st century (postmodern century) that is what everyone is using to get their entertainment, news, share their experiences… We are exposed to social media everyday, it’s almost impossible to avoid. Many kids under the age of 5 have phones and are exposed to unrealistic examples of what a person should look or act like because of social media. It is important to at least make teens aware that those expectations aren’t realistic so that when they see it at least they know.
