This blog focuses on unrealistic lifestyle and body expectations for adolescent via social media apps. With cell phones becoming more commonly used by kids of younger ages than ever before, there is more exposure to expectations set by social media influencers and friends. Some common types of social media apps used by teens that serve as platforms for these unrealistic expectations can include Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr...etc.
Unrealistic lifestyle expectations may include:
-Constantly being on vacation or being able to afford vacations
-Owning a nice car and big house
Unrealistic body expectations may include:
-Being skinny to the point where it isn't realistic
-Having a small nose, big lips, big breasts, big butt... (plastic surgery)
-Being attractive or flattering to others

Why I chose this phenomenon?
- I decided to chose this topic because social media plays such a big role in modern day life, everywhere you go there are teens on their phones and you have to wonder how the media is impacting them. I was wondering that exact question which led me to chose this topic for my website.
